Spring Into Action
You've heard it here before—the
best activity you can add to your life is walking. The LifeWalk audio program is
the quickest and best way to get walking effectively and efficiently without
injury and with great results.
Other than walking, here are some
quick and easy ways to add activity to your life. These activities do not
require large amounts of time, money or effort, yet could boost your energy
level significantly Being more active throughout the day is the goal.
At Home
Be your own
gopher--go get your own snacks, drinks, books, the phone, channel changer.
(Actually, I'd skip the changer too--but I don’t want to push you over the
edge.)
Limit television and computer
time to fewer than two hours total--not including hours dedicated during work.
Make multiple trips up and down
stairs, be less efficient at doing it all in one trip.
Stand while talking on the
phone--keep good posture in mind.
Pitch in on outdoor chores if you
usually handle the indoors stuff and vise versa.
At the Office
Walk down
the hall to talk with colleagues, rather than calling or e-mailing them. I
know it takes a bit more time, but the activity is also good for getting
oxygen to your brain--a creativity and energy booster.
Skip the elevator, take the
stairs.
Park farther away and walk
100 extra steps. You've heard it before, are you doing it?
Walk at lunch and break
times. Bring a friend. Do your networking while walking or exercising.
Put exercise on your
calendar in ink.
Stand up while talking on
the phone; keep your stomach muscles "zipped up" and shoulders
back. (Get the LifeWalk tape for many more easy exercise ideas.)
Keep Dyna bands, jump ropes,
small weights and stretching bands in the office five minutes can do
wonders for your energy and strength. (In workshops, I'm able to prove this
in sixty seconds or less.)
